Taylor Swift’s Sense Of Smell Brings Up Bad Memories

They do say that our sense of smell is the strongest sense tied to memory, which explains why we get so nostalgic when we get a whiff or Play-Doh or black markers that smell like licorice - it’s like being 6-year-old again. Unfortunately for Taylor Swift, her sense of smell is only good for one thing: remembering boyfriends past, because it sounds like Taylor only dates dudes who love to pile on the cologne. Or maybe it just has something to do with the fact that Swift is launching a fragrance of her own and this is just another neat way to tie her ex-boyfriends into everything she does. Whatevs!
Swift appears in a spread in Allure magazine where she discusses some special people in her life and what they smelled like. She says “Different smells bring different relationships to mind for me. . .I’d put on Abercrombie 8 to remember when I was in ninth grade and had my first boyfriend, because he gave me that.” Well okay, that’s cute. Then she says “The coolest girl in school wore Britney Spears Fantasy.” Well that’s just a weird thing to remember, but maybe that’s because the coolest girl in our school never came within 20 feet of us. Moving on. Taylor even has a scent that hurts her to talk about. “Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue is still a difficult one for me to smell,” she says, hinting that it brings up bad memories of an ex, though she won’t say which ex. (Probably not John Mayer - we picture him as the type to wear Drakkar Noir, albeit ironically.)

This is one of those articles, much like when Cosmo runs features like “What Men Really Love In Bed! In Their Own Words!” and then has quotes from clearly not-real mean talking about “pleasure zones” and “making her scream” and other fictional bullsh*t you can’t believe is true. We don’t doubt that Swift has certain sense memories about these people, but never in our life have we ever known the names of any perfumes ever, it’s fishy that she can rattle off all these scents so clearly. But then again, we’re cold heartless people who aren’t moved or surprised by much in life. Unlike Swift. Taylor Swift is always surprised by something.
