We just heard something strange, and it don’t look good: rumors are swirling that Ashton Kutcher might star in Ghostbusters 3. G3 director Ivan Reitman hinted that Ashton might be in the running while promoting their current film No Strings Attached. “Absolutely. Possibly,” Reitman said with a smile when asked if his leading man might be part of the new generation of slime fighters. Wow, we never thought we’d say this, but after hearing this rumor, busting just makes us feel…ambivalent.
We’d love to know what the original stars have to say about the Killers actor strapping on a proton pack. We know Ashton must be famous enough the role, considering Dan Akroyd refuses to work with unknown actors. There’s at least one original ‘buster, however, who seems to need more convincing before he gets on-board: Bill Murray. “He’s seen it and we’re waiting to hear…fingers crossed,” Reitman says of sending Murray the Ghostbusters 3 script. “He’s seen the cover of it,” Ashton joked. “Was I not supposed to say that?,” indicating that perhaps Murray isn’t as close to signing on as everyone on the planet would have hoped
